International Peace Day
September 21st was International Peace Day and if you drove through the MMS parking lot, you probably saw signs of our observance of that day. Upper Elementary teacher, Meghan Kearns, led the school in the Pinwheels for Peace project. The Pinwheels for Peace project estimated that over 3.5 million pinwheels were set out by people around the world to mark the very important day!
We hope you took a moment in the circular drive to see our beautiful pinwheels. The children wrote or drew their ideas of peace on their pinwheels. It was amazing to see what the meaning of peace means to different children.
Since 1981, September 21st has been set aside to recognize the efforts of those who have diligently worked to end conflict and promote peace in their communities and worldwide.
