The MMS Fund: What it means to our students
As the classroom competition for the MMS Fund comes to a close, it is timely to revisit why participation in the MMS Fund is so important to the school. We ask that every parent consider a donation to the MMS Fund because high levels of participation clearly show school leadership and the surrounding community that parents are willing to invest in their children’s future and support the school’s mission. It signals that our community has confidence in the mission of the school and in our strategic plan. Additionally, it demonstrates to outside funders that our community is strong, united and worthy of outside support.
The MMS Fund allows us to grow and enhance innovative programming, sustain our tuition assistance fund and much more. But perhaps the best spokespeople for how the Fund enhances our school’s offerings are the students benefiting from your donations.
Ella W. said that her favorite thing about school is “making maps and learning about the world.” Ella also said she likes "setting an example for the younger kids." Jack P. said that he’s “excited to have a new lesson.” His favorite lesson this year was the division finger chart. Frances K. liked math, “I love to see how high I can count, maybe someday to 1,000,002.” Alissa X. just likes learning. This year she really enjoyed making a map of Africa, Asia and Europe. “I even drew flags, plants and animals for some of them!”
In Lower Elementary, students’ love of learning expands outside of their Montessori classroom. Maryam B. didn’t hesitate when she said art was her favorite thing about school. “I really liked learning about and making masks in art class; that was definitely my favorite thing!” Ronan S. liked using technology inside and outside of his classroom. “I liked going on the computer. PowerSpeak and IXL are my favorite. The math problems are fun and I like the activities in PowerSpeak. In the classroom I really like doing long division and writing reports. I just finished a report on North America and am starting a report on Africa.” He also mentioned that talking with his friends was at the top of his list of favorite things about school.
We hope that you will join us as we continue to foster and grow this love of learning in our students by considering a donation to the MMS Fund. Your contribution of any size truly makes a difference in the lives of our students.
