Sounds of Winning Music
WFMC’s Federation Festival
MMS students received 49 Superior ratings and 9 Excellent ratings
Every year MMS private music students learn and memorize two solo pieces to perform for a judge in Federation Festival, sponsored by the Wisconsin Federation of Music Clubs. The judge gives written and verbal feedback and rates the performance on a scale of one to five. Musicians receive five gold cup points for a superior rating (the highest rating) and four gold cup points for an excellent rating. After earning 15 cumulative points, musicians receive a gold cup.
This year, several MMS students received their very first gold cup. Congratulations to Chyna B., Emily G., Andrew F., Will M., Catherine N., Xander S. and Caterina V. for gold cups in the piano solo event. Congratulations to Chyna B., Olivia E., Ellen K., Anna M., Catherine N. and Xander S. for gold cups in the music theory event.
Overall, MMS students received 49 Superior ratings (5 points) and 9 Excellent ratings (4 points), which once again shows the strength of our music department. In past years, MMS has achieved similar results. Forty students earned Superior ratings and four earned Excellent ratings in 2011, while 50 students earned a Superior rating and nine earned an Excellent rating in 2010.
Also worth noting is that our own Andrew C. won at WMTA on May 19th for his age division. Congrats to a great musician!
