MMS Art Awards
MMS students are known locally and nationally for outstanding achievement in the arts and their knowledge of art history.
2018 – 2019
|Scholastic Art Awards||March 2019||
8th-grade student LaJess J. won the National Silver Award, for her photograph entitled, What You Don’t See. LaJess is one of just two students from the State of Wisconsin to win a National Art Award from Scholastic. (To give some perspective, there were 340,000 submissions.)

|Scholastic Art Awards||January 2019||
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious recognition initiative for creative teens, accept submissions from students across the country in grades 7–12. For 95 years, the Awards, presented by the nonprofit Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, have identified the early promise of some of our nation’s most accomplished visionaries and encouraged young artists and writers to pursue a variety of creative career paths and endeavors.
The students in 7th and 8th have proven their artistic skills once again! JH students received 19 scholastic art awards ranking MMS 2nd in the State. Milwaukee Montessori School was the only school in the State to win in so many diverse categories and to have the youngest winners! Below is a list of winners.
Awards were received in a vast array of categories including Photography, Digital Art, Ceramic and Glass, Sculpture, Mixed Media, & Printmaking.

For the fourth year in a row, MMS received the most awards among any other Middle School in Wisconsin out of thousands of entries with 17 Scholastic Art Awards. This State Scholastic Art contest is offered to 7-12 graders. Also, Milwaukee Montessori School also has the youngest accumulative winners in the entire State. Below is a list of winners.
Awards were received in a vast array of categories including Sculpture, Enamel, Jewelry, Photography, Digital Art and Drawing.

Art students from Milwaukee Montessori School received 14 Scholastic Art Awards! Students received these prestigious awards for their work in photography, sculpture, digital art, ceramics and drawing. Milwaukee Montessori School was the only school in the state to have 7th graders receive any Scholastic Art Awards.

|48th Annual Wisconsin State Fair Youth Art Exhibit||May 2016||
Competing against over 400 6th through 12th graders across the state, three of MMS’s finest brought home ribbons and cash awards from the Annual Wisconsin State Fair Youth Art Exhibit. We are thrilled to congratulate the following students:

Several of our Milwaukee Montessori School students participated in the 2015 Scholastic Art Awards – Wisconsin competition for students in grades 7 – 12. This competition is the regional section of The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards national program. Our school received more awards than any other middle school in the state! Their artworks ranging from painting, pottery, photography, digital art and printmaking.
|State Fair Youth Exhibit||Mid April 2015||
Every year the Wisconsin State Fair welcomes state schools to participate in their Youth Art Exhibit which takes place during the Wisconsin State Fair. Schools from around the state entered over 300 artworks which will all be on display but only a few are awarded for their outstanding craftsmanship and creativity. Ten, 1st place Blue Ribbons are awarded for the middle school category within the state. Milwaukee Montessori School Junior High students snagged 2 of those. Work will be on display August 6-16 at the Wisconsin State Fair.
