Harper Marten

Harper has been a part of the MMS community since 2002. In 2016 she returned to serve as our resident substitute teacher, and created a social-emotional curriculum for the School during our time of virtual learning.

Originally from Evanston, IL, Harper now lives in Wauwatosa with her husband and two children. In addition to her Montessori certification, she holds a Master’s degree in Art Education and a BFA in Photography. Harper taught art to elementary-aged students in the Wauwatosa School District for 10 years.

One reason Harper loves to work at MMS is the Montessori philosophy of following the child. Watching children learn and engage with materials in their own way is always exciting. Her children attend the school as well, and considers it a privilege to watch them grow. In her own time, Harper works with senior and memory care communities to create process-based art experiences (read: she helps grown-ups play and get messy again).
