Milwaukee Montessori School

Scott completed a PhD in English at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and has been teaching English, composition, and literature for over seven years. His research specialty is in the intersection of narratives & games and exploring the entanglement of stories, play, and possibility. He enjoys sharing his love for literature and story-telling with students - and how the stories we tell create our imaginary and real worlds.

Before he became a teacher, he had a 20-year career as a journalist and non-profit development professional in the California Bay Area. As a professional and freelance writer, has written about nearly every subject for nearly every audience, from covering local politics and sports to serving as the managing news editor of a daily newspaper. He has trained writers (both students and aspiring journalists) at all levels of experience during his professional and instructional career. He returned to university to study the stories & literature that have always been his main passion and discovered that sharing that passion was even more rewarding.

In his free time, Scott enjoys reading baseball history, watching San Jose Sharks hockey, and playing tabletop role-playing games.
