Montessori Upper Elementary Language Arts Teacher

Milwaukee Montessori School is pleased to announce a new opportunity for a dedicated and passionate Upper Elementary Language Arts Teacher to join our growing community. The Upper Elementary Language Arts Teacher serves as both an educator and mentor, guiding students in grades 4–6 as they become thoughtful readers, purposeful writers, confident communicators, and independent learners. Through engaging, developmentally responsive instruction grounded in Montessori philosophy, this teacher creates a prepared environment where curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, and joyful learning flourish. Working collaboratively with colleagues, families, and students, the teacher intentionally designs learning experiences that foster academic excellence while supporting each child's social, emotional, and intellectual development.

This role extends beyond the classroom by contributing to curriculum alignment, school culture, House activities, and the continuous improvement of Milwaukee Montessori School. The ideal candidate believes that exceptional education is rooted in meaningful relationships, values every child's unique potential, embraces innovation while preserving authentic learning, and is committed to helping every student feel known, challenged, and inspired to become their very best.

This salaried position is full-time. Teachers are expected to report from the hours of 7:45 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Key Qualities and Expectations:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Language Arts, or a related field required.
• Montessori certification (AMI, AMS, or MACTE-accredited program) preferred, or a willingness to pursue Montessori training.
• Demonstrated expertise and enthusiasm for teaching Language Arts to Upper Elementary students (grades 4–6).
• Deep understanding of child development and a belief that learning should be developmentally responsive.
• Passion for cultivating strong readers, writers, communicators, and critical thinkers through authentic, engaging learning experiences.
• Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of diverse learners.
• Strong classroom management skills that promote student independence, responsibility, and intrinsic motivation.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of students and the school community.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Montessori Elementary I-II credential.
• Previous experience in a Montessori classroom.
• Experience teaching literature, writing workshops, grammar, vocabulary, and interdisciplinary Language Arts curriculum.
• Experience using formative assessment to personalize instruction and support student growth.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively on interdisciplinary curriculum design and vertical alignment.
• Experience partnering with families through meaningful communication, conferences, and student goal-setting.
• Commitment to lifelong learning and remaining informed about educational research and best practices.
• Experience mentoring students through leadership opportunities, service learning, or community-building initiatives.

Montessori Toddler and Childcare Teacher

Milwaukee Montessori School has an immediate opening for a dedicated and experienced toddler/childcare teacher for a full-time, year-round position. Children range in age from eighteen months to six years old. This full-time position requires someone with a passion for early childhood education and the ability to work seamlessly within a team.

This position is a full-time, year-round position. Shifts are 7-8 hours long, between 6:45am - 6 pm, and remain stable each week.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Working collaboratively to design and continuously improve the toddler and childcare programs in alignment with our learning objectives.
• Creating and maintaining a prepared environment that is well-ordered, clean, and inviting, encourages student exploration and growth, and facilitates each student’s growing concentration and independence.
• Follow and enforce school standards and procedures.
• Observing each child’s individual progress to plan future learning activities that are developmentally appropriate for each student.
• Investing in the whole child. You understand that meeting the emotional needs of each student is a primary task of the Montessori educator with a proven understanding of and sensitivity to the developmental attributes of the Toddler (18 months - 3 years) and Children’s House (3K-5K) student.

Strong Candidates will have:

• The position does not require prior experience but it is helpful. This position requires a willingness to learn, the ability to accept all feedback and implement suggestions as prescribed
• Understand the value of punctuality, pulling one's weight in a team environment, getting along with colleagues, and a detailed eye for order and cleanliness.
• Desire to collaborate and contribute to a progressive school environment
• Excellent verbal communication skills and emotional control are required for a bustling environment
• Must be able to lift at least fifty pounds

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
