Milwaukee Montessori School

“As a student, MMS taught me to be selfless and care for others by being thoughtful with my words and actions. As a teacher, I have enjoyed being able to facilitate the growth of students both in and outside of MMS' formal education.”

Alex Flood graduated from Milwaukee Montessori School in 2011 and went on to attend Pius XI Catholic High School (’15) followed by Northern Michigan University (’19) where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Outdoor Recreation Leadership and Management and a minor in Psychology.

Alex began working at Milwaukee Montessori as a Counselor in Training during his high school years and returned to MMS during his holiday breaks in college. After college, Alex became a full-time educator with MMS. From our Playgroups to Lower and Upper Elementary classes, Alex proudly incorporated his background in recreational leadership into the classroom where he effectively implemented a variety of team-building activities into several areas of our curriculum.

Outside of MMS, after Alex’s Junior year of college, Alex worked as an activities counselor for a summer camp in Minnesota called True Friends that serves people of all ages and abilities. This was a very enriching summer that stays close to Alex’s heart. During his freetime, Alex is either fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, skiing, or playing basketball.

When thinking back on his time as a student at MMS, Alex says Nature’s Classroom cultivated his love for the outdoors and playing basketball for MMS’ team helped him grow as a young student. He feels very fortunate that he had the opportunity to coach basketball and give back to the athletic program that had such an impact on him during his time as a student. Overall, Alex believes MMS taught him how to be an independent worker, how to formulate opinions, and think for himself.
