“My MMS education set the foundation for my strong work-ethic, time-management skills, and creative problem-solving. I'm a firm believer that the Montessori method fosters a true joy in learning and instilled a passion for exploring new things in me at a young age.”
Kassi Tiedjens graduated from MMS in 2013 and went on to Pius XI Catholic High School where she graduated in 2017. Along with her academic studies, Kassi studied dance with the Milwaukee Ballet School throughout her time at MMS and Pius. After an intensive audition process during her senior year of high school, Kassi was accepted into Butler University's elite dance program, "consistently listed as one of the top five collegiate ballet programs in the nation". In 2021, Kassi graduated cum laude with high distinction from Butler with a BFA in Dance-Performance and a BA in Psychology. Post graduation, Kassi obtained a Company Dancer contract with Confluence Ballet Company, a non-profit ballet organization in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she performed and taught ballet and jazz for three years. In 2024, Kassi accepted a new contract with Dissonance Dance Theatre, named “one of the 11 small-but-mighty dance companies outside of LA and NYC”.
At Butler University, Kassi studied garment construction for the stage and worked in Butler Ballet's Costume Shop for over 2 years. Kassi has utilized this skill in her professional career and acted as Confluence Ballet Company’s Costume Director. When Kassi is not dancing or sewing, she is teaching dance, rock climbing, or working on MMS' social media!
"Access to a dance education is full of barriers. Ballet has historically marginalized several individuals due to the high demand of resources required to pursue dance, even at the recreational level. After college, I deliberately searched for dance organizations that prioritizes inclusion and accessibility through performances and outreach programs. All bodies deserve to fall in love with the joys of movement and self expression."
