Alyson Berg

Alyson Berg joined Milwaukee Montessori School in 2016 and has spent much of her career guiding Upper Elementary students in history and science. Her teaching combines high expectations with individualized support, helping students develop the confidence and independence to engage with increasingly complex ideas. She is passionate about cultivating thoughtful learners who ask meaningful questions, recognize connections, evaluate evidence, and persevere when answers are not immediately apparent.

Ms. Berg earned a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls, with a minor in Chemistry. She has also completed graduate-level coursework through Teachers College, Columbia University, focused on Earth systems, water, climate, and environmental change. Her interdisciplinary background informs the inquiry-driven experiences she creates for students, particularly those that connect history and science to important questions about their communities and the wider world.

Originally from Minnesota, Ms. Berg grew up surrounded by animals and the outdoors. She spent many years riding horses competitively and helping care for her family’s English and Irish Setters, experiences that continue to shape her love of science and the natural world. Outside the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her own English Setter, Lula, and bringing creative ideas to life. Whether a lesson calls for a scientific model, an immersive simulation, or an unexpected costume, Ms. Berg is always ready to make learning meaningful and memorable.
