For the fourth year in a row, MMS received the most awards among any other Middle School in Wisconsin out of thousands of entries with 17 Scholastic Art Awards. This State Scholastic Art contest is offered to 7-12 graders. Also, Milwaukee Montessori School also has the youngest accumulative winners in the entire State. Below is a list of winners.

Scholastic Art Awards

Art students from Milwaukee Montessori School received 14 Scholastic Art Awards! Students received these prestigious awards for their work in photography, sculpture, digital art, ceramics and drawing. Milwaukee Montessori School was the only school in the state to have 7th graders receive any Scholastic Art Awards.

48th Annual Wisconsin State Fair Youth Art Exhibi

May 2016

Competing against over 400 6th through 12th graders across the state, three of MMS’s finest brought home ribbons and cash awards from the Annual Wisconsin State Fair Youth Art Exhibit. We are thrilled to congratulate the following students:


  • Nevin M. received a 1st Place Ribbon and a $50 cash award for his quilling of a toucan.
  • Norah P. received a 3rd Place Ribbon and a $30 cash award for her quilling of a hummingbird.
  • Shannon L. received a $50 cash award and a special ribbon for the “Inspired by the Fair” award for her quilling of a sheep.

Several of our Milwaukee Montessori School students participated in the 2015 Scholastic Art Awards – Wisconsin competition for students in grades 7 – 12. This competition is the regional section of The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards national program. Our school received more awards than any other middle school in the state! Their artworks ranging from painting, pottery, photography, digital art and printmaking.

State Fair Youth Exhibit

Mid April 2015

Every year the Wisconsin State Fair welcomes state schools to participate in their Youth Art Exhibit which takes place during the Wisconsin State Fair. Schools from around the state entered over 300 artworks which will all be on display but only a few are awarded for their outstanding craftsmanship and creativity. Ten 1st place Blue Ribbons are awarded for the middle school category within the state. Milwaukee Montessori School Junior High students snagged 2 of those. Work will be on display August 6-16 at the Wisconsin State Fair.
